Teaching and Learning with Blackboard

Introduction to Framingham State College Learning Management System: Blackboard

Background

Web based courses have been part of the curriculum at Framingham State College (FSC) since 1998 when Romeo Marquis delivered the first online class from a web site. In the year 2000 Blackboard was adopted as the College's Learning Management System (LMS). Since that time the number of instructors who use Blackboard to deliver course material to students on-campus and online continues to grow.

The expansion of online and web-enhanced learning is attributed to a dedicated group of educators and strong administrative support. As Director of Distance Education I want to thank you for your interest in Blackboard and welcome you to our community. As a user of the Learning Management System you will have the opportunity to deliver education in a format that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and promotes many styles of communication.
